About

Over several decades, Readex has published many of the most widely used collections of primary source research materials in academic libraries, first as Readex Microprint Corporation and since 1984 as a division of NewsBank.  Today, Readex continues to play a leadership role by creating comprehensive Web-based resources.

Our expanding Archive of Americana—a fully searchable online family of historical materials printed in America from 1639 forward—features more than 2,000 newspapers, landmark collections of government publications and more than 100,000 books, broadsides and ephemera.  Key components include America’s Historical Newspapers, which spans four centuries and now includes 20th-Century American Newspapers, African American Newspapers and Hispanic American Newspapers. Also available are Early American Imprints, 1639-1819; U.S. Congressional Serial Set, 1817-1994 and others.

Our acclaimed digital edition of the Foreign Broadcast Information Service (FBIS) Daily Reports offers online access to the U.S. government’s fundamental record of political and historical open source intelligence between 1941 and 1996.

Created in partnership with the Center for Research Libraries, our World Newspaper Archive includes historical newspapers published in Africa, Latin America, Slavic and East Europe, South Asia and other regions.

Academic librarians and scholars recognize Readex for its efforts to transform research in the humanities and social sciences and to dramatically reshape the study and teaching of centuries of American history, literature, culture and daily life.
